As the Chairman of Scientific Council of International Working Group of Ornamental Viruses (IWGOV), I am pleased to inform you the final result of the voting on the organizer of 13th International Symposium on Virus Diseases of Ornamental Plants (ISVDOP-13). A total of 35 members voted and 19 of them favor Norway as the next organizer of ISVDOP-13. I would like to congratulate Dr. Blystad for obtaining the official support from our members of IWGOV as the next convener of ISVDOP-13 in 2012. Although the final decision did not favor Singapore as the next venue, I still wish to extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Wong for the excellent effort he has done on the preparation of their tentative symposium program. I really hope there will be opportunity for the symposium of our IWGOV can be held someday in Singapore in the very near future. Sincerely,
Chin-An Chang,
Chairman of Scientific Council of IWGOV
ISVDOP13 will be held in Ski, Norway, June 24-29, 2012 NEW: link to the ISVDOP13 web site: www.bioforsk.no/ISVDOP13 Bioforsk, Norway
Welcome to ISVDOP 13 in Norway We feel honored to host the ISVDOP 13 meeting! We have made a preliminary program we hope will be a good way of arranging this meeting. Most of you will probably come here by airplane (I am sure the Icelandic ash has blown away by 2012!). It is easy to get from Oslo Airport Gardemoen to the hotel at Ski (Thon Hotel Ski, see hotel website for more information (http://www.thonhotels.com/ski)). You can use a bus (1 hour) from just outside the main entrance of Oslo Airport to just outside the door of the hotel, or you can choose to use railroad from the airport to Oslo Central station (25 min) and change to the train to Ski (25 min). The hotel is a modern conference hotel situated in the middle of this small town. Ski is located just 10 km from our institute. After two days of intensive program with presentations and posters at this hotel we plan to move on to Grimstad. On our way we will stop by a couple of growers of ornamentals so you can get an impression of how floriculture is in Norway (we are a small, northern country, but we really love flowers and ornamentals!) In the evening we will reach the small town Grimstad. The following day we will also focus more on flower production (an outdoor exhibition of new varieties from important producers / breeders from all of the world) and also visit a nearby research station before we enjoy the conference dinner close to the see in the evening. Friday is reserved for the last presentations and the business meeting. For those who want to enjoy the Norwegian fiords we are open to organize a post conference tour through Hardanger to Bergen. Welcome! Kind regards on behalf of the Norwegian ISVDOP 13 committee Dag-Ragnar Blystad More information:
